Monday Madness or Bananas!

Monday Madness from a Teen’s Mind
Beautiful Bananas!

How is everyone doing today? Welcome back to Monday Madness from a Teen’s Mind! Now, normally I would ask you about your weekend and what I told you about in my last blog, but this week, I am going to cut straight to the chase. Today, we are going to talk about FRUIT!!!! Okay, you may be thinking, this is not good for a teen blog. Plus, Tori blogs about nutrition on Tuesdays. (Read Nutrition Tips from Tori on Tuesdays. There is some great information in her blogs about healthy eating!) I, my friends, am going to tell you about an excellent fruit that will forever change your life in a positive way!

As teenagers or as a person of any age, it is important to eat foods that are full of good nutrients. This is bananasespecially helpful for growing kids and teens or for adults who just want to maintain a healthy diet. One of the best fruits that is easy to grab, inexpensive, and can be eaten anywhere is a BANANA!! I am not a huge fan of bananas at all. I used to barely eat them, and if I did eat them it was only because my dad made me eat like half of a banana. It was not at all my snack of choice. Now, I am going to admit this and what is said on my blog, stays on my blog, if you know what I mean. (Don’t make fun of me) 🙂 I will admit that I went through a time when I was pretty grumpy a lot of days. I wasn’t very happy or nice to be around. My dad told me that one of the things I could do to help myself come out of my slump was to eat a banana. Apparently, bananas have a lot of good vitamins in them, some of which can raise a person’s spirit. I found a chart on to contribute to my reasoning:
Banana, fresh
1.00 medium
(118.00 grams)
Calories: 105
GI: low
vitamin B625% manganese16% vitamin C14% potassium12%
fiber12% copper10% biotin10%
According to this reliable website, “This chart graphically details the %DV (daily vitamins) that a serving of bananas provides for each of the nutrients of which it is a good, very good, or excellent source according to our Food Rating System.” (The George Mateljan Foundation, 2015)
You are probably thinking, so what? I don’t care that bananas are healthy. Well, guess what you should do right now…Go to your local grocery store (King Soopers, Safeway, Sprouts) and get yourself a banana! They are only like 59 cents or something cheap like that. Heck, even my 6 year old sister could afford to buy a banana with her allowance. Set a goal for yourself to eat a banana every day or at least every other day like I try to do. If nothing else, bananas do not have many calories or fat, so why not eat one? You really have nothing to lose. Addi’s Life Tip #9 (read my previous blogs for tips 1-8): EAT BANANAS! Seriously, you should listen to a teen for once and go munch on a banana!

Been eating bananas for years. Can’t eat too many as they can elevate my phosphorous level.
